Designers in Mumbai are creating Taxi Fabrics that tell stories from their city, showing Indians the impact good design can have.
Currently funding on Kickstarter, the guys have raised over £9000 from 188 backers to make their ‘Taxi Fabrics’ a reality.
The Taxi Fabric project is all about providing Indian designers with a unique platform to show off their work – using taxi seats as their canvas.
Design can often be taken for granted in India. It’s believed that older generations don’t understand it or recognise it as a proper profession or something worth studying; design to them, just performs a function. They don’t realise that it can create an impact. And with so few spaces for designers to show off their skills, it’s hard to change that perception.
We want to change that with this project. We want to help Indian designers have their work not only be seen but also allow them to connect with members of the public who up until now perhaps haven’t understood that design can tell stories and create emotions.
